Wordmark system rebalance — V refinement × text-weight × dot

Two axes refined together. V geometry (R1-R4 from refinement workshops) and system weight (S1-S5: text font-weight, dot size, letter-spacing). Each axis tested independently, then key combinations shown together. The strongest system pairing is shown in close inspection at 120 px. Full 4×5 matrix at 48 px provides overview.

Two-axis system thinking

V axis (R1-R4): refining the V mark's geometric character. R1 = current baseline. R2 = sharper apex. R3 = refined small curve at apex. R4 = R3 + outer top corners rounded (full outer-V curve cohesion).

S axis (S1-S5): rebalancing visual mass across the whole wordmark. S1 = current Semibold 600. S2 = Bold 700 (heavier text). S3 = Bold + larger dot (institutional weight). S4 = Medium 500 (lighter text, bookend register). S5 = Bold + tighter letter-spacing.

The hypothesis: V hasn't been "off" alone — the text has been quietly under-weighted for the V's mass. Heavier text (S2/S3/S5) rebalances the system without touching the V. Refined V (R3/R4) adds polish. Together, they make the whole composition feel intentional.

Section A — V axis at fixed S1 (Semibold 600, current text)

How does V geometry refinement read with the current text weight? Same dot, same tracking.

Section B — S axis at fixed R1 (current V, baseline geometry)

How does system rebalance read with the current V? Same V, varying text weight + dot + tracking.

Section C — Key integrated combinations

The most strategically interesting pairings. Each addresses a different "what kind of Vecreal" decision.

Largest direct comparison. R1+S1 (current locked) vs R4+S2 (recommended both-refinements pairing).

Spec axes

AXIS / VARIANT Spec Reads as
R1 (V)tiny Q apex, sharp corners, 12u legscurrent baseline / decisive
R2 (V)true point apex, sharp cornerssharpest, maximum kinetic
R3 (V)small Q apex 4u × 3u, sharp top cornersrefined apex (mixed cohesion)
S1 (sys)Semibold 600, dot 0.23em, -0.05emcurrent — declining mass pattern
S3 (sys)Bold 700, dot 0.26em, -0.05emstrong bookend, institutional max
S4 (sys)Medium 500, dot 0.23em, -0.05embrand-mark register, text recedes
S5 (sys)Bold 700, dot 0.23em, -0.07emdense text unit, tighter rhythm
My recommendation: R4 + S2. The cleanest combined refinement.

Why R4: Resolves the cohesion issue you flagged — outer-V perimeter has one consistent curve language (rounded apex + rounded top corners). Inner apex stays sharp so the V keeps its chevron decisiveness. Subtler than R3 alone but more cohesive.

Why S2: Bold text (700) does three things at once. (1) Rebalances the wordmark's mass pattern from declining (V heavy → text medium → dot light) to balanced (everything weighty). (2) Cross-atom consistency — the tagline is already Inter Bold 700, so wordmark + tagline read as one typographic system. (3) Institutional read — Bold sans wordmarks are the McKinsey/Bain/Allianz visual register. Semibold is the Stripe/Linear/ Notion register. Bold pushes toward institutional intelligence positioning.

If S2 feels too heavy: try R4+S5 (Bold + tighter tracking) — same weight increase but text becomes a denser unit, looks even more designed. If V refinement alone is enough: R4+S1 keeps current text, just refines the V. If you want full institutional commitment: R4+S3 (Bold text + larger dot 0.26em) — strong bookend system.

Reply with R{x} + S{y} (e.g., "R4 + S2") to pick a combination. Or "stay R1 + S1" to keep current. Or pick V and S independently if you want to test other pairings first.
